RACING SEASON IN ADELAIDE

We start racing around the end of May and finish about the end of September.

The races start from 250kms and can be as far away as Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, which is 1340kms away.

The breeding season is between September and March.

These are the warmer months, so it's a lot easier to breed as the youngsters grow fast in the hot climate.

Pigeon flyers in Adelaide can breed anything from 80 to 300 youngsters each year.

My "Meuleman Family" are all down from the first shipment of birds that came into Australia in 1988.I purchased my first "Meulemans" in 1989 and they were down of a cockbird of "D.Sippetts,a cockbird of J.Hoffmans,a henbird of I.Daniels and later a henbird of Richard Clingan which was given to me by Ross Hocking.The second year i bred " 202" as she was called and she won 4 races,won the pools several times and was runner up "Bird of the year" twice.I gave a chocolate hen to Bobby May which bred him 2 slate cocks which won 5 races in the strong "North Suburban Club"Other Flyers who did well with these birds are G.Markham,P.Vreneck,W.Verco to name a few.Just to add a bit of history i had the first ever "Chocolate Meuleman" to race and be clocked in the"Adelaide $10,000"
